About US

Baby, we were born to fly. With over 80 years of combined flying experience, the Joy Air team knows how to show you a great time and get you home safely.

PiLOt: Paul Mills

Paul’s first flying experience was at 12 years old when his father purchased a joy flight with a local charter company. During the flight, the pilot briefly handed over the controls to young Paul and the rest is history.

At the age of 16, Paul took his first steps toward a career as a pilot by obtaining his student pilot’s licence. At 17, Paul completed his private licence. After securing his commercial licence, Paul worked as an agriculture pilot before transitioning into fire bombing. It was exciting work, that included travel throughout Australia and China.

Paul began flying floatplanes in the late 80’s. He worked as Chief Pilot for Aquaflight Airways in Cairns. From 2006, Paul and wife Carol operated their own floatplane company in Townsville, before “retiring” to Perth. In 2020, Paul and Carol moved to Lake Mac. We are over the moon to have such an experienced pilot behind the controls at Joy Air.

Adam Faulkner

Adam’s love of flying started at an early age. At 10 Adam’s father introduced him to flying on the family farm. Adam completed his private licence at the age of 18.

Adam’s most memorable flying experience was in Ketchikan, Alaska. A friend of Adam’s had built a small ultralight floatplane at home. A break in the weather saw them heading up the rugged Alaskan coast, dropping crab pots and fishing on isolated lakes. An epic day in the sky, that still gets him excited to fly.

Today, with his own young family and the owner of Joy Air, it brings Adam a huge amount of pleasure to see adults and kids thrilled by the flying experiences.
