Paul’s first flying experience was at 12 years old when his father purchased a joy flight with a local charter company. During the flight, the pilot briefly handed over the controls to young Paul and the rest is history.
At the age of 16, Paul took his first steps toward a career as a pilot by obtaining his student pilot’s licence. At 17, Paul completed his private licence. After securing his commercial licence, Paul worked as an agriculture pilot before transitioning into fire bombing. It was exciting work, that included travel throughout Australia and China.
Paul began flying floatplanes in the late 80’s. He worked as Chief Pilot for Aquaflight Airways in Cairns. From 2006, Paul and wife Carol operated their own floatplane company in Townsville, before “retiring” to Perth. In 2020, Paul and Carol moved to Lake Mac. We are over the moon to have such an experienced pilot behind the controls at Joy Air.
